Linda Lanning, Choir Director
Music has been a vital part of Linda’s life as long as she can remember. Although this is the first opportunity she has had to be a church pianist and choir director, she has filled in at these positions several times over the years. Linda began playing the piano when she was 5 yrs old, accompanying choirs and soloists since high school. She has also sung in church and community choirs and select groups since high school, also leading singing on several occasions. Linda grew up in a small town, near Springfield, MO, and has been active in the church at the local, district and conference levels throughout Missouri. She met her husband, Paul, at a Lay Speaker Training event when he was just entering the ministry and moved with him as he was appointed to various churches across the state. When he retired in 2017, they moved to Van Buren, AR, to be near their son and his family.
Linda worked for 26 years in computer software development for AT&T in Kansas City, MO. After retiring, she worked as a library assistant at libraries in Kansas City and in southwest Missouri. And now she has “failed” retirement again, taking on another new endeavor! Linda is excited and thrilled to be part of the Alma UMC staff, being able to use the talents and skills God has given her to be in ministry with the congregation.
